I’ve been taking actors photographs for too many years to mention and am happy to be one of the leading headshot photographers in the country. I’ve done literally thousands of pro headshot shoots so if you come to me you’ll be in very safe hands, get great results and it will also be fun! Every one of you is totally unique and I can translate that into a casting headshot that will really work for you.
After training at Mountview and working in theatre throughout the ‘80s and early ‘90s I realized that the performing life wasn’t for me and decided instead to turn my love of photography into a full time occupation.
As a former actor myself, I really understand what it’s like having your photos taken – some of you adore it and some of you absolutely hate it - but I can promise I’ll take good care of you and give you just as much TLC as you want. I’ll also give clear direction and make sure you get the sort of casting shots you need, whether you’re a drama student, recent graduate or seasoned professional.
Over the years I’ve developed a main headshot style that’s natural, fresh and captures your particular energy – let’s call it you on your best day - that any casting director will recognize when you walk in the room. And getting you into that room is without doubt the most important thing to achieve in a successful headshot. Together we’ll identify your ‘natural’ casting type and make sure we get stand out images that reflect that, plus others to show your further casting potential. Of late there’s been a huge shift towards colour images and a more commercial look, particularly suitable for TV, film, US and musical theatre castings. So dependent on your casting type and personal preference I can tailor the style of the shoot to your individual needs.
Sessions with me are relaxed, friendly and unhurried and take place at my home in Archway, north London - just a short walk from the tube. When you arrive we have a cuppa and a chat about exactly what you want from the shoot, look at clothes choices and discuss your different casting looks. You may want lots of variety or you may just want to concentrate on just getting that special “you” shot – we’ll discuss all this thoroughly before we start, resulting in a focussed and creative session.
My studio is on the premises and it’s fine to change hair, make-up and shave during full shoots if you want (just the men haha!). I’m a dab hand with concealer and can help with blemishes, under eye shadows etc. if you need it. Spots often appear at the worst possible time but don’t worry, I can deal with all that and more in Photoshop later.
Standard Full Studio shoots are 3 hours+ and Budget Studio shoots are two hours+ but I have the flexibility on the full shoot to give you extra time if you need it.
I am delighted and proud to be a Founder Member of the APHP, the Association of Professional Headshot Photographers, and to be qualified as LBIPP with the British Institute of Professional Photography.
